THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 15 March 2026: Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers' Union (TRCMPU), a regional unit of Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation, has announced a ₹5 crore summer incentive package for dairy farmers and milk cooperative societies across four districts of Kerala.
The announcement was made by Kerala Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J. Chinchurani while launching TRCMPU’s new farmer welfare project “Sahayahastham” at a function held at Chadayamangalam Block Panchayat Hall on Saturday.
4,000 Farmers to Receive Monthly Income Support
Under the Sahayahastham project, 4,000 selected dairy farmers associated with Anand model milk societies under TRCMPU will receive a fixed monthly income of INR 1,000.
The beneficiaries will be selected based on merit criteria, and the scheme will provide financial stability to active dairy farmers while encouraging greater participation in dairy farming.
An allocation of INR 2.4 crore has been earmarked for implementing the welfare initiative.
Farmers affiliated with milk societies in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts will benefit from the programme.
Additional Incentives for Milk Procurement
Speaking at the event, TRCMPU Chairperson Mani Viswanath said the union has already distributed INR 20 crore in additional incentives to farmers and cooperative societies during the current financial year.
In addition, around INR 15 crore has been provided as cattle feed subsidy and other welfare measures to support dairy farmers.
The union has also announced an additional INR 6 per litre incentive for milk procured in February 2026.
Of the additional incentive:
INR 4 per litre will go directly to farmers
INR 1 per litre will be allocated to milk cooperative societies
INR 1 per litre will be added to the societies’ share capital
Strengthening Dairy Farmer Welfare
The summer incentive and the new welfare scheme are aimed at strengthening farmer incomes and supporting cooperative dairy societies in southern Kerala.
Officials said the initiatives will help ensure income stability for dairy farmers, improve participation in cooperative milk production and strengthen the dairy sector in the region.
