The/Nudge Institute is convening its fourth edition of India’s foremost tech-driven livelihoods summit - charcha ‘23 – under the G20|Startup banner  to bring together all  stakeholders working to create resilient livelihood opportunities for all Indians.

NEW DELHI, 10 August 2023: The/Nudge Institute is convening its fourth edition of India’s foremost tech-driven livelihoods summit - charcha ‘23 – under the G20|Startup banner  to bring together all  stakeholders working to create resilient livelihood opportunities for all Indians.

The convening is being held across two days on August 23 and 24 at ISB Hyderabad. 

Market leaders in the development sector and technology will host their respective events at charcha ‘23. Google will lead conversations on ‘tech-4-good’,  along with a hackathon for tech students and professionals. LinkedIn will convene sessions related to skills-first thinking for livelihoods.

Reliance Foundation is hosting dialogues on the future of livelihoods including 21st Century Skills in Education, Skilling for the Sport Sector, Agri Innovations and Entrepreneurship in the Wake of the Fourth Industrial Revolution). The other tracks related to building resilient livelihoods by leveraging technology and supporting social entrepreneurship are being hosted by prominent organizations such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (Gender), KPMG (Ending Ultra-poverty), Generation India (Employment and Retention), G.A.M.E. (Entrepreneurship) and Masterclasses in Livelihoods from the Lens of Identity by Tata Steel Foundation, Collaborative Philanthropy by the The Bridgespan Group, Large-scale Social Transformation by The/Nudge Institute and Catalytic Funding for Social Innovations by ACT. 

Discussing why charcha ‘23 is a G20 | Startup20 event, Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, Chair, Startup20 and Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission - NITI Aayog, stated, “charcha ‘23 is a livelihood convening under the aegis of the G20 | Startup 20 platform for entrepreneurs, start-ups and practitioners innovating to create resilient livelihoods for India and the world. charcha is bringing together a strong lineup of speakers and partners this year, including thought and business leaders, problem solvers and policy makers. charcha ‘23 is definitely a compelling convening for those in the livelihood ecosystem”. 

charcha ‘23 will be an exclusive in-person gathering of over 100 speakers and 700 livelihood professionals and distinguished members from civil society, policymakers, changemakers, philanthropists, academicians, entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate leaders. 

charcha ‘23 features a stellar lineup of speakers including Padma Shri Dr. Abhay Bang (SEARCH), Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, IAS (Secretary, Min of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship - Govt. of India), Satish Reddy (Chairman, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, N S Parthasarathy (Cofounder, Mindtree), Ghazal Alagh (Cofounder, MamaEarth), Dr. R S Sharma, IAS (Ayushman Bharat & UIDAI), Ajai Chowdhry (Cofounder, HCL), Dipali Goenka (MD & CEO, Welspun Industries), Dr. Chintan Vaishnav (Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission), Kalpana Morparia (ex-CEO - South Asia, J.P Morgan), Sharad Sharma (Founder, iSPIRT), Jwala Gutta (Athlete & two-time Olympian) among others. 

Emphasizing the need for a platform like charcha, Sudha Srinivasan, CEO, The/ Nudge Centre for Social Innovation, said, “India’s investments in digital public infrastructure and innovation ecosystems have created economic opportunities for millions, not just in India, but across the world. Besides the panel discussions and keynote talks, charcha ’23 features a 24-hour nonstop hackathon to solve problems faced by small and marginal farmers, a live concert by a Shor Police, an announcement by LinkedIn investing in The/Nudge’s Centre for SKill Development, release of a report on ‘Agri Ikigai: Tech Solutions for the Small-farmer to Increase Income, while having Positive Climate Impact’ by The/Nudge Institute.
