HYDERABAD, 4 June 2023: Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the Integrated Biological Control Laboratory (IBC Lab) at the National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM) in Hyderabad recently.

The IBC Lab is a state-of-the-art facility that will help in the development and production of bio-control agents, bio-pesticides, and bio-fertilizers. These products can be used to control pests and diseases in crops, without the use of harmful chemicals.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Tomar said that the IBC Lab will be a major boost to the efforts of the government to promote sustainable agriculture in India. He said that the use of bio-control agents and bio-fertilizers will help to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, which will have a positive impact on the environment and human health.

Tomar also said that the IBC Lab will help to improve the income of farmers by reducing their costs of cultivation. He said that the government is committed to providing farmers with the latest technologies and inputs, so that they can produce more food and earn a better livelihood.

The IBC Lab was established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in collaboration with the Government of Telangana. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, and it is staffed with highly qualified scientists and technicians.

The IBC Lab will carry out research on the development of new bio-control agents and bio-pesticides. It will also produce these products on a commercial scale, and it will distribute them to farmers across the country.

The IBC Lab is a major milestone in the development of sustainable agriculture in India. It is a testament to the commitment of the government to promoting eco-friendly practices and improving the lives of farmers.

Here are some of the benefits of using bio-control agents and bio-fertilizers:

  • They are environmentally friendly and do not harm human health.
  • They can help to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, which can have a negative impact on the environment.
  • They can help to improve crop yields and quality.
  • They can help to reduce the cost of cultivation.

The IBC Lab is a valuable resource for farmers and agricultural scientists. It will help to promote the use of bio-control agents and bio-fertilizers, and it will help to improve the sustainability of Indian agriculture.
