NEW DELHI, 28 October 2025: At a landmark event held at Pusa, Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ and the ‘Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission’, along with a series of initiatives aimed at transforming India’s agriculture and allied sectors.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Minister of State Shri Bhagirath Choudhary were present on the occasion. The Prime Minister interacted directly with farmers involved in pulses cultivation, the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), animal husbandry, and fisheries, acknowledging their challenges and innovations. Tributes were also paid to social reformers Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh on their birth anniversaries.

The ‘PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ integrates 36 sub-schemes across 11 Ministries to accelerate agricultural progress in 100 aspirational districts. The ‘Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission’ seeks to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses, reducing import dependence amid rising domestic demand.

The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for 1,100 projects under the AIF, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors, representing a historic investment exceeding INR 42,000 crore. These projects will establish modern cold storage facilities, processing units, and warehouses across rural India.

Farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), cooperatives, and innovators were felicitated for their contributions, recognising them as exemplars of India’s growing rural enterprise ecosystem.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan noted that fertiliser subsidies and GST relief have shielded farmers from global price surges, with urea priced at INR 266 per bag and DAP at INR 1,350. He also highlighted the historic increase in Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for key crops, including wheat, gram, lentil, mustard, and sunflower.

Financial empowerment initiatives include direct transfers of INR 3.90 lakh crore under PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, disbursement of over INR 10 lakh crore in Kisan Credit Card loans in FY 2024–25, and interest subsidies of INR 1.62 lakh crore. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has provided compensation exceeding INR 1.83 lakh crore to insured farmers.

FPO growth continues to surge, with over 52 lakh farmers as shareholders and 1,100 FPOs achieving ‘crorepati’ status, collectively recording turnovers exceeding ₹15,000 crore. Support for innovation, branding, and market linkages is ongoing to strengthen these organisations.

Shri Chouhan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to self-reliance and a ‘Viksit Bharat’, urging citizens to embrace Swadeshi and contribute to national development. He lauded the Prime Minister’s vision, noting that India’s agricultural reforms are building a foundation for a prosperous, self-reliant, and developed nation.
