Kerala Minister launches Milma Food Truck at KSRTC Kollam depot 

Milma rolled out a food truck in the city today, with Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Mrs J. Chinchurani inaugurating the facility that serves snacks and refreshments in a refashioned bus of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

KOLLAM, 26 March 2023: Milma rolled out a food truck in the city today, with Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Mrs J. Chinchurani inaugurating the facility that serves snacks and refreshments in a refashioned bus of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

Brought out by the cooperative society’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) in association with KSRTC, the Milma Food Truck at the state-owned corporation’s Kollam depot will sell all the products of Milma.

The Minister, in her inaugural addresssaid the ‘Milma Food Truck’ offers a whole range of variety of its trustworthy products to the public. More such food trucks will come up at the KSRTC’s depots in Chadayamangalam and Kottarakkara of the district soon, she added.

Mrs Chinchurani said the TRCMPU, through the initiative, is extending a helping hand to KSRTC by converting its old buses to a mode of income.  

TRCMPU Administrative Committee Convener Shri N. Bhasurangan, who presided over the function, said this was the fifth food truck by TRCMPU in collaboration with KSRTC. “Seven more such facilities will be come up shortly,” he added. “Through such initiatives, TRCMPU aims to make available Milma’s products in all parts of Kerala.”

TRCMPU has so far set up Milma Food Trucks at Kayamkulam (Alappuzha district), Karunagappally (Kollam district) and Thampanoor (Thiruvananthapuram).

Deputy Mayor  Kollam Madhu conducted the first sale on the occasion.

TRCMPU Managing Director Shri D.S. Konda, who presented a report, said Milma gives KSRTC a monthly rent of Rs 20,000 plus tax for each such bus. This is besides a deposit of Rs two lakh. About Rs 5 lakh has been spent for the modification of the bus, he revealed.

Present at the function were Kollam former Mayor Smt Honey Benjamin, TRCMPU Administrative Committee Members KR Mohanan Pillai and V.S. Padmakumar, Kollam Dairy Manager C.A. Muhammed Ansari and KSRTC Kollam DTO A. Abdul Nishar.

The 1980-established Milma, which is the trade name of the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), is headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram.
