MUMBAI, 25 June 2025: Somaiya Vidyavihar University, one of India’s leading private research institutions, successfully hosted the 2nd International Conference on Technologies for Energy, Agriculture & Healthcare (ICTEAH 2025) at its Mumbai campus.
Organised by the K J Somaiya School of Engineering, the three-day event brought together over 120 delegates, including top scientists, researchers, policy experts, and students, to explore sustainable, tech-driven solutions across key sectors.
The conference was inaugurated by dignitaries including Dr. Sanjay Jambhulkar (BARC), Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai (Vice Chancellor, SVU), Dr. Suresh Ukarande (Director & Dean, K J Somaiya School of Engineering), and Dr. Nandkumar Gilke (Registrar, SVU), among others. The event served as a vibrant platform for 93 paper presentations and 7 posters focused on themes like clean energy innovation, precision farming, regenerative agriculture, and digital healthcare systems.
Highlighting the interconnection of climate and health, Prof. Pillai warned of the growing impact of environmental stressors on human health, introducing the rising field of exposomics. “A mere 0.5 to 1°C temperature rise is already affecting 12% of the global population. Understanding and addressing these risks is vital,” he said.
In his keynote, Dr. Sanjay Jambhulkar emphasized the critical role of emerging agri-tech in securing future food systems. Dr. Sudhir Ranjan Jain explored quantum computing’s potential in energy systems, while Dr. Nandkumar Kunchge presented regenerative agricultural models rooted in ecological harmony. Healthcare innovation was represented through Dr. S. D. Sharma’s research on congenital heart disease treatments.
The conference also served as a talent showcase, awarding the Best Paper Award in each domain to Dr. Sarika Bukkawar, Mr. Haseen Shaikh, Ms. Sonia Pol, and Mr. Nitish Yadav, while Ms. Alka Dattatray Gadakh earned the Best Poster Award. Certificates of Excellence were distributed to participants and student volunteers for their dedication.
“Energy, agriculture, and healthcare are the three pillars shaping the world’s future,” remarked Dr. Suresh Ukarande. “This platform aligns academic insight with real-world innovation. Tomorrow’s breakthroughs may come from lab-scale prototypes like a 2cm solar panel delivering today’s megawatt performance.”
With selected papers set to be published by Taylor & Francis and submitted for Scopus indexing, the conference not only enhanced academic rigor but also underscored the University’s alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
ICTEAH 2025 once again reinforced Somaiya Vidyavihar University’s position as a forward-thinking institution committed to research with impact—bridging science, society, and industry to create a better tomorrow.
