NEW DELHI, 21 December 2023: In a major boost for Indian agriculture, SohanLal Commodity Management (SLCM Group) has announced that its agri-focused NBFC, Kissandhan, has disbursed INR 103.74 crore under its women empowerment scheme since its launch in 2021.

This micro-loan revolution has reached over 25,000 women entrepreneurs in agriculture and allied sectors, providing them with financial stability and a springboard to grow their ventures.

"Women farmers are the backbone of India's agrarian economy, yet they often face barriers like limited access to resources and finance," Sandeep Sabharwal, Group CEO, SLCM Group said. "Kissandhan addresses these challenges head-on, empowering women with micro-loans averaging less than Rs 50,000, tailored to their specific needs."

Beyond finances, the scheme's impact extends to fostering entrepreneurial spirit and economic independence. "Providing financial resources enables these women to not only achieve self-sufficiency but also contribute to their communities," Naresh Kumar, Chief Business Officer, Kissandhan said.

The program leverages Business Correspondents (BCs) to reach remote areas and builds partnerships with other NBFCs to amplify its reach and knowledge sharing. This comprehensive approach is transforming lives, with women using loans for diverse ventures like poultry farming, dairy processing, and vegetable cultivation.

As Kissandhan continues to empower women across the agricultural landscape, its story serves as a powerful testament to the transformative potential of micro-financing. With continued support and expansion, this pioneering initiative holds the promise of a brighter future for Indian agriculture and the women who drive it.
