NEW DELHI, 28 October 2025: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, held high-level meetings at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi, to review the functioning of both ministries and the grievance redressal mechanism. The discussions focused on the complaint portal and the timely resolution of issues raised by farmers. Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi and other senior officials attended the meetings.
Officials reported that complaints were being received under multiple categories including fertilisers, seeds, pesticides, PM-Fasal Bima Yojana, and the PM-Kisan Portal. Key issues included unavailability and high prices of fertilisers, poor-quality seeds, and Nano Urea tagging. Regarding pesticides, 150 complaints were presented, of which 120 have been addressed, FIRs filed in 11 cases of counterfeit products, licenses of eight companies cancelled, and 24 farmers compensated.
Shri Chouhan emphasised that complaints should not be closed until the farmer confirms satisfaction. He instructed officials to follow up with farmers after action is taken and to reinvestigate matters if dissatisfaction persists. Strict timelines for complaint resolution were highlighted to prevent prolonged delays.
The Minister also directed identification of states where complaints are high and action is slow, with feedback from these states to be reviewed in future meetings. He proposed recognising officers and states performing well in complaint resolution with certificates of appreciation to motivate staff.
For serious cases, Shri Chouhan suggested direct intervention by the Ministry, and discussed a mechanism for state nodal officers to obtain daily feedback from farmers on at least 10 complaints to ensure proactive resolution and accountability.
