The reforestation initiative, launched last year through CREDAI’s CSR Foundation and member network, aims to plant nearly two million saplings across 25 villages and approximately 9,000 acres of degraded forest land in Maharashtra, starting with Nashik. Implemented in collaboration with the Raah Foundation and district authorities, the programme aligns with Maharashtra’s regreening priorities and community-based forest management frameworks.
To date, more than 3,500 acres have been restored through native-species plantations supported by soil preparation, trenching, mulching, moisture conservation, and water-harvesting measures. With an average of 200 saplings per acre, the project includes multi-year survival monitoring, third-party audits, and active community participation, ensuring long-term ecological and livelihood benefits.
At a dedicated ceremony, CREDAI honoured workers who completed its RPL certification programme. Designed to validate informal on-site experience, the NSQF-aligned certifications are delivered through a 10-day learn-while-you-earn model covering masonry, shuttering carpentry, and bar bending trades. CREDAI plans to scale the programme to certify 50,000 workers nationwide.
The organisation is also strengthening sector leadership through partnerships with IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore, offering executive programmes focused on governance, strategy, and operational excellence.
CREDAI President Shekhar Patel said the initiatives reflect the body’s commitment to balancing development with ecological responsibility while enhancing workforce dignity and capability, contributing to India’s long-term sustainable growth vision.
