NEW DELHI, 7 March 2024: The National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA) hosted a national workshop recently in New Delhi to explore "Digital Forecasting Techniques and Decision Support System for Climate Resilient Agriculture in Rainfed Eco-systems."

Focus on Innovation: The workshop brought together government officials, agricultural experts, researchers, and farmers to discuss innovative solutions for climate-resilient agriculture in rainfed areas. These areas, dependent on unpredictable rainfall, face unique challenges.

Harnessing Technology: Discussions centered on refining digital forecasting models and developing a robust decision support system. This system would offer farmers crucial advisories on crop selection, nutrition management, weather alerts, pest control, market information, and post-harvest practices.

Expert Insights: Eminent agricultural and climate experts led technical sessions, delving into the intricacies of digital forecasting techniques and integrated systems for accessing agricultural resources. Participants also explored the role of geospatial solutions and AgriMedia in empowering farmers.

Farmer Feedback: Beneficiary farmers shared their experiences using digital forecasting techniques, providing valuable insights into the practical applications and potential benefits.

Collaboration for the Future: The workshop emphasized collaboration and knowledge exchange. Open discussions focused on evaluating the effectiveness of the NRAA-FAO project and devising strategies for upscaling these technologies. The goal is to create a sustainable future for rainfed agriculture through the combined efforts of government, research institutions, NGOs, and farmers.

Looking Ahead: Participants expressed optimism about the potential of digital agriculture to revolutionize rainfed farming practices and enhance the livelihood security of farmers across India. This workshop serves as a significant step towards achieving that goal.
