BIKANER, 15 July 2025: In a significant boost to rural education infrastructure, Union Minister of State for Law & Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, inaugurated upgraded library facilities across 18 government schools in Bikaner district on Tuesday.

The initiative, supported by agri-tech company Syngenta India under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to enhance the academic environment and foster holistic development in rural schools.

The upgraded libraries are now equipped with improved infrastructure, including catalogue racks, reading furniture, fans, enhanced lighting, and computer systems with printers and scanners. Motivational quotes have also been painted on the walls, while the rooms were freshly renovated to create a welcoming space for students.

Speaking at the event, Shri Meghwal said, “Providing quality education through modern infrastructure is essential to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat. I commend Syngenta for its meaningful contribution.”

Over 5,446 students across 18 government schools in 20 rural villages will directly benefit from the intervention. These villages include Sinthal, Gajner, Kaloo, Kishnasar, Toliyasar, and others across Bikaner district. The list of schools was finalised in coordination with the Department of Education, Bikaner, to prioritise areas of highest need.

Dr KC Ravi, Chief Sustainability Officer, Syngenta India, stated, “Access to digital and physical learning resources is key to ensuring every child reaches their full potential. This initiative reflects our commitment to rural prosperity through education.”

Syngenta has previously undertaken educational CSR initiatives in other states, including classroom construction in Purulia (West Bengal) and school sanitation infrastructure across 15 institutions. Its community development efforts in Rajasthan include solar electrification of over 50 gram panchayats, water purification units in multiple villages, and the creation of Vande Bharat Park in Balotra.

The event was attended by local education officials, school faculty, and community members, marking a significant milestone in rural education transformation in western Rajasthan.
