NEW DELHI, 22 July 2026: Artificial intelligence (AI) and digital learning platforms are being progressively integrated into India's cooperative training institutions through a series of academic, training, and institutional initiatives, the Centre informed Parliament on Tuesday.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, said cooperative training institutes are adopting technology-driven teaching methods to modernise capacity building in the cooperative sector.

Institutions such as the Regional Institute of Cooperative Management (RICM), Chandigarh, have introduced smart classrooms equipped with interactive digital boards, projectors, and ICT-enabled teaching tools. They are also adopting blended learning models through e-content, online classes, and Learning Management Systems (LMS), while training faculty in ICT tools and digital pedagogy.

The minister said these digital learning initiatives are periodically reviewed to ensure their effective utilisation.

The government is also strengthening the skills of teachers and cooperative professionals through Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), refresher courses, seminars, workshops, webinars, and other professional development initiatives.

These programmes cover emerging areas such as cooperative management, banking and finance, governance, digital banking, digital transformation, and other technology-driven aspects of the cooperative sector.

According to the government, these initiatives are aimed at building a digitally skilled cooperative workforce and enhancing the adoption of modern technologies across cooperative institutions.
