Strengthening efforts for the sustainable utilisation of India’s marine fisheries, the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) to collaborate on various research initiatives, including improved fishing advisories.

Kings Infra Venture Ltd., a technology-driven sustainable aquaculture company, has set a world record in the growth of pond-based aquaculture of L. Vannamei shrimps by harvesting shrimps weighing 80 gms (210 mm). L. Vannamei commonly known as the whiteleg shrimp are native to the eastern Pacific Ocean, from the Mexican state of Sonora to as far south as northern Peru.

Sea6 Energy raises USD 9 million in funding for Ocean farming

Bengaluru-based ocean farming startup Sea6 Energy has recently raised USD 9 million as a part of its Series B funding round led by Netherlands-based aquaculture fund Aqua-Spark. Silverstrand Capital a Singapore-based company also participated as a part of this round.

IPNLF urges Indian Ocean Tuna Commission to take urgent action on yellowfin stock rebuilding

The International Pole & Line Foundation (IPNLF) is calling on members of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) to take urgent action, while working in the best interests of the region’s tuna resources and its coastal fisheries, when this regional fisheries management organisation convenes its Special Session in early March 2021 to discuss the rebuilding of the overfished Indian Ocean yellowfin tuna stock.
