UPL bags Clarivate South Asia Innovation Award 2023 for third time

MUMBAI, 17 August 2023: UPL Ltd. (NSE: UPL & BSE: 512070 LSE: UPLL) (‘UPL’) a global provider of sustainable agricultural solutions, has been awarded the South Asia Innovation Award in agribusiness for the third time recognizing UPL as a top innovator.

The evaluation for the award is driven by metrics for patent volume (patents published) as well as patent quality (grant success rate, extent of globalization, and citations). This achievement reflects UPL’s longstanding commitment to driving transformative innovation to contribute to a sustainable and food-secure future, with the company boasting more than 1,400 patents and 14,000 registrations.

The award was conferred on UPL by Dr. Unnat P. Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks from the Government of India. Clarivate announced the winners at the Innovation Forum held in Mumbai, India, on July 28, 2023. The methodology used to select the top innovators in South Asia includes a complete comparative analysis of global invention data to assess the strength of every patented idea, using measures tied directly to their innovative power, and analyses data from the Derwent World Patents Index™ and the Derwent Patents Citation Index.
