NEW DELHI, 22 February 2026: Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a bilateral meeting with Carlos Fávaro, Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, and Luiz Paulo Teixeira Ferreira, Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture, at Krishi Bhawan to deepen cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors.
The discussions reviewed ongoing collaboration and identified new areas of partnership between the two countries. Chouhan highlighted the strong and friendly ties between India and Brazil, rooted in shared democratic values and reinforced by high-level engagements, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Brazil during the BRICS Summit 2025.
He also welcomed Brazil’s participation in the AI Impact Summit, noting its importance in advancing technological collaboration.
Brazilian ministers emphasised the potential for expanded cooperation across agriculture and family farming. Carlos Fávaro particularly appreciated India’s progress in bio-input innovations, identifying it as a key area for future collaboration.
Both sides agreed to strengthen engagement in areas including agricultural trade, sustainable farming practices, technology exchange and allied sectors. Chouhan extended an invitation to his Brazilian counterparts to attend the upcoming BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting.
The Brazilian delegation included senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), while Indian representatives comprised officials from the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, ICAR, NABARD and the Ministry of External Affairs.
