MUMBAI, 8 October 2025: A delegation from the Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association (CLFMA) of India has concluded a week-long visit to the United States, strengthening cooperation in agriculture and livestock feed between the two nations.
Invited by the U.S. Grains Council, the delegation was led by Mr. Divya Kumar Gulati, Chairman, CLFMA of India. The team engaged with U.S. policymakers, research institutions, and farmers to explore best practices in sorghum (jowar), corn, and dairy production, underscoring India’s growing emphasis on sustainable and efficient feed management.
The visit began in San Antonio, Texas, where experts from the United Sorghum Checkoff Program, Kansas State University, and Clemson University conducted technical sessions on global sorghum markets, grain standards, and sustainable feed systems. Delegates studied the integration of sorghum in poultry, swine, and pet food diets, as well as innovations in the U.S. grain supply chain.
The delegation also toured key sorghum farms and processing units, including Richardson Seed Company and Bunge’s facilities in Etter, gaining insights into planting, harvesting, and logistics operations.
In Iowa, delegates visited POET Bioprocessing facilities, the Gold Eagle Feed Mill, and Dutchland Dairy, examining ethanol-linked feed production and dairy farm efficiencies. Farmer-led interactions, including a field cookout at Mark Mueller’s farm in Waverly, highlighted grassroots perspectives on crop management and sustainability.
The program culminated with high-level meetings at the Iowa State Capitol, where the delegation met the Governor of Iowa, the Agriculture Secretary, and representatives from the Iowa Corn Growers Association to discuss policy alignment, trade, and technology exchange.
This visit builds on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between CLFMA and the State of Iowa in September 2024, and the sister-state agreement between Maharashtra and Iowa in August 2025. Both initiatives aim to enhance collaboration in livestock feed, dairy innovation, and sustainable farming.
“This visit provided invaluable insights into advanced agricultural practices. Knowledge exchange with U.S. counterparts will help address India’s feed challenges and strengthen the competitiveness of our livestock sector,” said Mr. Divya Kumar Gulati, Chairman, CLFMA of India.
India’s animal feed market, valued at USD 14.34 billion in 2024, is projected to reach USD 21.02 billion by 2034, driven by rising demand for quality protein and sustainable feed solutions.
The delegation included senior CLFMA members — Mr. Abhay Shah, Mr. Abhay Parnekar, Mr. Nissar F. Mohammed, Mr. R. Ramkutty, Mr. Sameer Chotai, Mr. Sumeet Surekha, Mr. Suresh Deora, and Mr. Naveen Pasuparthy.
Through direct engagement with U.S. farmers, industry leaders, and policymakers, the CLFMA delegation reaffirmed India’s commitment to global best practices, feed innovation, and agricultural sustainability.
