LUCKNOW, 15 July 2025: The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a statewide special campaign for the timely disbursal of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans to eligible farmers, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi announced on Tuesday.

The initiative, which will run until July 31, aims to ensure that credit flow to farmers remains uninterrupted during the Kharif season.

Chairing a review meeting with representatives of banks and agricultural insurance companies in Lucknow, Shahi expressed dissatisfaction with the sluggish pace of KCC loan implementation by financial institutions. He directed banks to act “on a war footing” and take urgent steps to reach every needy farmer in the state.

“Every eligible farmer must be provided KCC benefits within this month,” Shahi said, urging officials to escalate efforts and remove all bottlenecks in processing.

Shahi sought bank-wise data on KCC disbursals, but expressed concern after bank officials reportedly failed to give satisfactory explanations. He instructed the agriculture department to initiate action against underperforming institutions and ensure daily progress reviews.

The minister also criticised agricultural insurance companies for failing to set up tehsil-level offices and for their “indifferent attitude” towards farmers. He ordered companies to immediately establish operational presence in every tehsil and offer proactive assistance to the farming community.

Stressing the importance of awareness, Shahi called for extensive publicity of the KCC campaign through print, electronic, and social media to inform farmers about their entitlements and the simplified loan process.

Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Aulakh, Principal Secretary Ravinder, and other senior officials from the agriculture and statistics departments were present at the meeting, alongside bank and insurance representatives.

The campaign comes as part of the Yogi Adityanath government’s broader push to strengthen rural credit delivery and support climate-resilient agriculture in India’s most populous state.
