HYDERABAD, 15 March 2026: Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA)–Poultry India, supported by the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), celebrated World Protein Day 2026 at SkyKings Football Academy to raise awareness about the importance of protein in maintaining health, strength and overall well-being.
The initiative focused on educating young athletes and the wider community about the benefits of protein-rich nutrition, particularly highlighting eggs and poultry products as affordable and high-quality protein sources.
Experts Highlight Role of Protein in Health and Sports
Speaking at the event, Kiraannmayye Addu, Chief Clinical Nutritionist and Lifestyle Consultant at BirthRight by Rainbow Hospitals, emphasised the role of balanced nutrition in supporting growth and physical development.
She noted that adequate protein intake is essential for maintaining strength, immunity and overall health, particularly among growing children and athletes.
Mohammad Zakeer, former India U-17 National Football Coach, also highlighted the importance of quality nutrition in improving stamina, performance and long-term fitness for young sportspersons.
Poultry Sector’s Contribution to Protein Nutrition
Addressing the gathering, Uday Singh Bayas, President of IPEMA–Poultry India, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting nutritional awareness through the poultry sector.
He noted that India produces over 130 billion eggs and nearly 5 million metric tonnes of broiler meat annually, making poultry one of the most accessible and affordable sources of high-quality protein in the country.
Encouraging Healthy Habits Among Young Athletes
To mark the occasion, eggs were distributed to trainee footballers at the academy to encourage healthy dietary habits. Footballs were also presented to the young participants to promote sports, fitness and balanced nutrition.
Observed annually on February 27, World Protein Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of adequate protein intake for building a healthier and stronger society.
Through this initiative, IPEMA–Poultry India reinforced the message that choosing the right nutrition today helps build a stronger and healthier tomorrow.
