AMARAVATI, 16 JUNE 2025: Reassuring the farming community during peak harvest season, Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu has affirmed that the government will extend full support to mango farmers affected by falling market prices due to bumper yields.
Addressing a gathering at Damalacheruvu panchayat in Pakala mandal of Tirupati district on Saturday, the Minister stated, “This meeting was organized to directly understand the issues faced by mango growers and provide timely government assistance.”
The Damalacheruvu mango market yard, the largest in the combined Chittoor district, is at the heart of this year’s procurement efforts. The Minister highlighted that procurement began on June 9, with 15,976 metric tonnes already purchased across Chittoor, Tirupati, and Annamaya districts by June 12.
To address market imbalances and support post-harvest management, the state government has sanctioned ₹218 crore under the Horticulture Integrated Development Scheme.
The Minister urged farmers to adopt modern cultivation and storage practices, emphasizing long-term sustainability. “Even the last mango of this season will be procured from the farmer,” he assured, reflecting the government's commitment to preventing wastage and ensuring farmer dignity.
The move is expected to stabilize mango prices and provide relief to thousands of small and marginal mango growers across the region.
