PERTH, 17 August 2023: The hunt is on for the future pioneers of the agrifood industry as applications open for the evokeAG. Future Young Leaders Program.
The program offers emerging leaders a chance to showcase their innovations, ideas, or research on a global stage at the evokeAG. event scheduled for February 20-21, 2024, in Perth, Western Australia.
Now in its fourth year, the Future Young Leaders Program is tailored to nurture the capabilities of young talents from Oceania and Asia who are committed to enhancing the agriculture sector and its value chains.
Harriet Mellish, General Manager of Global Innovation Networks at AgriFutures, explains that the program acknowledges the contributions of young leaders in food, fiber, and fuel production systems. It provides them with a supportive ecosystem, networking opportunities, and connections essential for their professional growth.
Mellish said, “The Future Young Leaders Program is a unique experience where we provide the opportunity to connect bright minds with industry experts and peers, to nurture innovation and share their ideas and research on an international platform.”
The program is actively seeking individuals aged between 18 and 30 who possess innovative ideas, research, or initiatives related to the agrifood tech sector. All backgrounds and locations across Australia are encouraged to apply, regardless of whether they have a rural upbringing or direct involvement in agriculture.
Rayali Banerjee, a 2019 Future Young Leader, attests to the transformative nature of the program. Banerjee's involvement empowered her to champion diversity and inclusivity initiatives in the agriculture sector, propelling her ideas to a global audience.
“Being a part of the Future Young Leaders Program gave me a global platform and empowered me to share my ideas, by addressing and educating a room of 1,000 people," said Ms Banerjee.
AgriFutures is committed to assisting the recipients of the Future Young Leaders Program in honing their presentation skills and building confidence. The program will also work on refining their strategic plans and offer focused development opportunities.
Applications for the Future Young Leaders Program commenced on August 7, 2023, and are set to close on September 4, 2023.
The initiative underscores the significance of fostering innovative minds in the agriculture industry, creating a pathway for young talents to make a substantial impact in the sector's future endeavors.
