SINGAPORE, 27 July 2023: Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) announced recently that it will expand its refining complex in Lampung, Indonesia, with the addition of glycerin refining capacity and edible oil packaging capabilities.
The development is part of LDC’s strategic plans to expand downstream and diversify revenue through value-added products.
The expansion will see the construction of a new glycerin refining plant in Lampung, which will be equipped to manufacture USP grade glycerin and offer various food grade packaging options. The plant is expected to be operational in 2024.
The development is a significant investment for LDC and reflects the growing global demand for refined glycerin. Glycerin is a versatile product with a wide range of applications, including food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The Indonesian market is expected to be a major growth driver for glycerin demand in the coming years.
The expansion of LDC’s refining complex in Lampung will strengthen the company’s position in the Indonesian market and further reinforce its capacity to process, package, and distribute value-added products. The development is also in line with LDC’s broader strategy to expand downstream and diversify revenue through value-added products.
