KARIYA / Japan, 4 July 2025: Denso Corporation has announced its acquisition of Axia Vegetable Seeds, a prominent vegetable seed breeding company headquartered in the Netherlands. The acquisition marks a strategic step for Denso as it expands further into the AgriTech sector, aiming to address global food security challenges through sustainable innovation.

With climate change and population growth putting increasing pressure on food systems worldwide, Denso recognizes the urgency of developing stable agricultural production systems that can reliably meet growing food demand. The partnership with Axia Vegetable Seeds will combine Denso’s industrial and automotive engineering technologies with Axia’s advanced expertise in greenhouse vegetable seed breeding.

Founded in the heart of the Dutch greenhouse industry, Axia Vegetable Seeds specializes in breeding high-performing tomato seeds known for their disease resistance, high yield, and exceptional flavor and quality. Its products are distributed globally and have gained a reputation for supporting sustainable greenhouse production.

By integrating Denso’s technological strengths — including image recognition and artificial intelligence — with Axia’s seed development capabilities, the companies plan to accelerate the breeding of high-quality, climate-adaptive seeds suitable for automated and data-driven farming practices. This collaboration will help shorten seed development timelines and deliver value-added solutions to growers faster.

Denso and Axia aim to build comprehensive cultivation solutions that ensure stable and predictable food production from seed to harvest, while also enabling agricultural workforces to focus on higher-value tasks. Through these initiatives, they hope to advance the goal of sustainable agriculture worldwide and respond proactively to the challenges posed by a changing climate and growing populations.
