NEW DELHI, 14 August 2025: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme has achieved a 99.92% transaction success rate in its 19th instalment, following the mandatory implementation of Aadhaar-based payments from December 2022.
Launched in February 2019, PM-KISAN provides INR 6,000 annually in three equal instalments to eligible farmers with cultivable landholdings, credited directly into their Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Since inception, the Government has disbursed over INR 3.90 lakh crore across 20 instalments, aided by a farmer-centric digital infrastructure integrating the Public Financial Management System (PFMS), UIDAI, and the Income Tax Department.
The move to Aadhaar-based transfers has reduced errors arising from account number mismatches and bank mergers. Failed transactions—primarily due to Aadhaar de-seeding or account closure—are reprocessed, with farmers and States promptly notified for corrections.
To improve accessibility and transparency, the Government introduced multiple grievance redressal channels, including the AI-powered Kisan eMitra Chatbot, launched in September 2023. Available in 11 languages across web and mobile platforms, it has addressed over 95 lakh queries from 53 lakh farmers.
Officials say these measures have streamlined beneficiary verification, eliminated intermediaries, and ensured timely fund delivery to farmers nationwide.
