BHOPAL, 2 July 2025: The National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL), set up by the Union Government, will play a vital role in increasing cooperative sector exports and ensuring that farmers receive fair prices, Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Minister Vishwas Sarang said recently.
Speaking at a state-level workshop, Sarang highlighted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Federation and Mandi Board with NCEL to promote institutional spice exports. This, he said, would directly benefit farmers by linking them to broader markets and strengthening the cooperative movement.
“With NCEL’s support, farmers will not only secure better prices for their products but also see the cooperative sector grow stronger. Already, 1,578 cooperative societies from Madhya Pradesh have joined NCEL,” Sarang noted.
Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Aidal Singh Kansana echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that Madhya Pradesh has long been a leader in the cooperative movement, winning the Krishi Kisan Award seven times.
Additional Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal explained that through the MoU, farmers will get paid the right price for their crops on delivery, based on market demand. Madhya Pradesh already exports a wide range of products — including paddy, spices, coriander, chilli, and bananas — and this partnership will open up even greater opportunities.
NCEL Managing Director Anupam Kaushik said the cooperative’s direct links to international buyers would improve farmer incomes. “We are working toward prosperity through cooperation and progress through exports,” he added. “With the support of the Madhya Pradesh government and its departments, we will achieve these goals.”
By strengthening the cooperative export ecosystem, officials believe NCEL can unlock higher earnings for farmers while expanding India’s agricultural footprint on the global stage.
