NAGPUR, 27 June 2025: Ambuja Cements, a part of the Adani Group, is transforming the agricultural landscape in rural Nagpur through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The company has empowered Umesh Chandrawanshi, a farmer from Khandala village near Chandrapur, to achieve remarkable success by shifting to modern, sustainable vegetable farming techniques.

Guided by Ambuja Cements' CSR arm and bolstered by specialized training from Better Cotton, Chandrawanshi adopted a suite of innovative methods for cultivating eggplant on his 1.25-acre plot. By implementing drip irrigation and mulching, he significantly optimized water usage and soil health.

Embracing an eco-friendly approach, he utilized organic pest control solutions like sticky traps and Jeevamrut, a natural liquid fertilizer. This move not only reduced his cultivation expenses but also ensured the production of healthier, chemical-free brinjal, meeting the growing consumer demand for organic produce.

The results of this transition have been impressive. With an initial investment of ₹45,000, Chandrawanshi harvested a substantial 9,500 kg of brinjal, earning a handsome profit of ₹1.26 lakh. His story stands as a powerful testament to the profitability and viability of modern agricultural practices.

The success of Umesh Chandrawanshi has not gone unnoticed. He has become a source of inspiration for other farmers in the region, who are now keen to explore similar sustainable farming techniques. Ambuja Cements continues to foster this grassroots transformation by facilitating knowledge sharing and promoting practical innovation, helping rural communities build a more self-reliant and prosperous future through smart farming.
