JAMMU, 16 June 2025: In a strong push towards rural prosperity, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday unveiled the government's ambitious plan to transform the Union Territory into a ₹1 trillion agricultural economy by 2030.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan at SKUAST Kashmir’s Mountain Research Centre in Khudwani, Kulgam, Sinha emphasized inclusive agricultural reform and dignified livelihoods for farmers.
“Let us walk together towards a future where every field blooms with prosperity, every farmer thrives with dignity,” Sinha said, addressing an audience of farmers, officials, and scientists.
The initiative is part of a larger vision to align J&K's growth with the national roadmap of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The LG lauded efforts under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, calling it a transformative step to build a modern, resilient, and prosperous agricultural sector.
Citing earlier initiatives like the 2022 Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), the LG reaffirmed his administration's dedication to increasing rural employment, enhancing farmer incomes, and ensuring tribal communities like Gujjars, Bakarwals, and Paharis play a central role.
The LG also instructed officials to prioritize the extension of PM Fasal Bima Yojana benefits to horticulture farmers, addressing concerns raised by farmer representatives.
“We must embed the outcomes of this campaign into our governance frameworks,” he stressed, calling for continuous support and innovation in agriculture outreach.
The event concluded with a solemn two-minute silence for the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, reminding attendees of the resilience and unity needed for collective progress.
