JAMMU, 2 July 2025: In a bid to boost farmer participation in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2025 season, the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu launched its 9th Crop Insurance Week Campaign on Monday at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo. The campaign will run from July 1 to July 7, 2025, across the Jammu Division.
Director Agriculture Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, flagged off a dedicated Crop Insurance Awareness Campaign Van, which will travel to villages throughout the region to promote awareness about the scheme’s features and benefits.
“Maximum farmer outreach, especially among non-loan farmers, is the focus this year,” Reen said. He urged field staff to hold block- and panchayat-level awareness camps in partnership with insurance firms and banks to facilitate farmer enrollment.
Reen also directed Chief Agriculture Officers to mobilize Agriculture Extension Officers, Junior Extension Officers, and Agricultural Extension Assistants to actively support farmers with registration under PMFBY, working closely with Common Service Centres (CSCs) and insurance companies to ensure enrollment before the notified deadlines.
The event was attended by Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu, Manohar Lal Sharma, Agronomist Vikas Padha, SDAO Marh Khalid Hassan Tantri, Bajaj Allianz State Head Sonu Kumar Kashyap, along with other departmental officials.
Farmers were encouraged to contact the PMFBY toll-free helpline (14447) or WhatsApp (7065514447), or visit their nearest bank branches or CSCs for registration assistance.
The PMFBY, a flagship government program, aims to provide financial protection to farmers against yield losses caused by natural calamities and adverse weather events.
