PATNA, 1 July 2025: Bihar’s cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Tuesday approved a package of measures aimed at strengthening the state’s cultural legacy and modernizing its agricultural sector.

The Chief Minister Artist Pension Scheme, among the highlights, will offer a monthly stipend of INR 3,000 to eligible artists across the state, providing financial security and recognizing their contribution to Bihar’s cultural heritage. Officials described the scheme as a step toward preserving and promoting artistic traditions in a rapidly changing society.

In parallel, the cabinet greenlighted significant investments to advance sustainable farming. The Natural Farming Scheme will receive INR 36.35 crore to promote chemical-free agriculture, aligning with broader efforts to support soil health and climate-friendly practices.

Additionally, the Krishi Vistar Yojana, which focuses on agricultural extension services, will see an allocation of INR 80.99 crore to cover staffing and operational costs. The Soil Health and Fertility Scheme will gain INR 30.49 crore to establish new soil testing and bio-fertiliser laboratories while modernising existing infrastructure.

To strengthen knowledge transfer in farming communities, the government has earmarked INR 41.02 crore under the Agriculture Training Scheme for educational classes, exposure visits, and outreach programmes.

Officials said these decisions underscore Bihar’s dual focus on nurturing its cultural assets while building a more resilient and sustainable rural economy. The combined approach, they noted, is critical for driving inclusive growth across the state.
