MUMBAI, 29 May 2025: In a bid to accelerate sustainable oil palm cultivation, 3F Oil Palm Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Department of Horticulture, has launched a large-scale farmer awareness campaign across 50 villages in the Eluru, West Godavari, and East Godavari districts.

The initiative aims to equip oil palm farmers with practical knowledge on best agronomy practices, input and disease management, and sustainable harvesting techniques. Through interactive field sessions, expert consultations, and live demonstrations, the program seeks to enhance farmer productivity and boost farm-level profitability.

India imports over 60% of its edible oil, with more than 13 million tonnes brought in annually. To reduce this dependency, the Government of India launched the National Mission on Edible Oils–Oil Palm (NMEO-OP), targeting an additional 6.5 lakh hectares of oil palm cultivation by 2025–26.

Andhra Pradesh stands at the forefront of this mission, accounting for over 60% of India’s oil palm acreage with more than 1.5 lakh hectares currently under cultivation.

“This joint effort underscores our shared commitment to make Andhra Pradesh a leader in sustainable oil palm cultivation and contribute to India’s self-reliance in edible oils,” said Mr. Srinivas Rao Kilari, Head Agri, 3F Oil Palm Pvt. Ltd.

The campaign is expected to directly benefit hundreds of farmers, setting a precedent for improved agricultural practices and yield across the region.
