LUCKNOW, 26 June 2025: In a major push towards modernizing its agricultural sector, the Uttar Pradesh government has distributed 450 state-of-the-art combine harvesters to farmers across 62 districts. This initiative aims to alleviate the physical strain of manual harvesting, minimize post-harvest losses, and significantly boost crop quality and yield.
These advanced machines, which integrate harvesting, threshing, and cleaning into a single process, are a cornerstone of the state's strategy to enhance farm efficiency and profitability. The distribution has been widespread, with districts like Bareilly receiving 46 harvesters, followed by Maharajganj and Fatehpur with 31 each, and Rampur with 27. Other key beneficiary districts include Pilibhit, Sant Kabir Nagar, Hardoi, Unnao, and Shahjahanpur.
A remarkable aspect of this initiative is the prominent and active role of women farmers. In a significant stride for gender equality in agriculture, 26 women in 15 districts, including Siddharthnagar, Amethi, Basti, Jhansi, and Gorakhpur, have taken the lead in operating and managing this modern machinery.
"Women are not just participating in farming; they are emerging as leaders in agricultural technology," a government statement noted. "Their empowerment is being supported through pivotal government schemes like the Atmanirbhar Krishak Yojana, Samanvit Krishi Vikas Yojana, and the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund."
This move underscores the government's commitment to creating a self-reliant and technologically adept farming community, ensuring that the benefits of modern agriculture reach every farmer in the state.
