NEW DELHI, 15 March 2020: US based tractor & agriculture equipment manufacturer’s John Deere has bagged Bharat stage emission standards (BS-V) certification for its domestically developed engine 3029 EWX.
The new certification is four years ahead of its implementation norm that will be enforced in 2024.
Speaking on this, John Deere India director for Public Affairs Mukul Varshney said that the BS-V certification for its 3029 engine was received from Pune based Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
ARAI has been assisting Government in formulating automotive standards and regulations and is an autonomous body affiliated to the Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) as testing and certification agency under Indian Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.
Tractors with this new engine are expected to be rolled out in the Indian market by later this year, Varshney added.
He said that with this, John Deere has become the first company to take the certification way ahead of the 2024 deadline.
John Deere India is the domestic subsidiary of the world's largest manufacturer of tractors and CE vehicles. It manufactures tractors, harvester and road constructions equipment along with engines in the 33-80HP range.
John Deere India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shailendra Jagtap is a statement said that the company continues to innovate and produce products that reduce carbon footprint. These ranges of engines are reliable, highly durable, meet emission norms and come with high-end features matching the global standards.
The company has an engine production capacity of 100,000 per annum.
