Future of Farming conference highlights agricultural innovation sustainable growth in Bihar

ICC Bihar hosts “Future of Farming” conference in Patna, bringing together policymakers, scientists and farmers to discuss innovation, technology and sustainable agriculture.

PATNA, 15 March 2026: Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), through its Bihar State Council, organised a conference titled “Future of Farming – Empowering Farmers, Enabling Innovation, Elevating Bihar” at Hotel Maurya.

The event brought together policymakers, agricultural scientists, progressive farmers, entrepreneurs and industry representatives to discuss opportunities and challenges shaping the future of Bihar’s agricultural sector.

Focus on Innovation and Policy Support

Delivering the welcome address, Prabhat Kumar Sinha, Chairman of ICC Bihar State Council and Founder of Astric Group, highlighted the importance of innovation, collaboration and supportive policy frameworks to accelerate agricultural growth in the state.

Experts Highlight Role of Technology in Agriculture

During the conference, Pallav Shekhar, Dean at Bihar Animal Sciences University, spoke about the growing role of digital innovation, genomics and scientific research in strengthening the livestock sector.

Meanwhile, Aditya Sinha, Executive Director at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in agriculture and allied industries.

Participation from Policymakers and Global Leaders

The conference also saw participation from several prominent leaders. Sanjeev Chaurasia attended the event as the Special Guest, while Erik Solheim, President of the Europe–Asia Center in Brussels, joined as the Guest of Honour.

The Chief Guest, Ram Kripal Yadav, Minister of Agriculture for the Government of Bihar, emphasised the need to increase farmers’ incomes through the adoption of modern agricultural technologies and sustainable farming systems.

Interactive Dialogue with Agriculture Minister

A special session titled “Bihar Ki Baat Mantri Ji Ke Saath” enabled participants to interact directly with the Agriculture Minister and discuss policy issues affecting the agricultural community.

Key Themes Discussed

Technical sessions during the conference focused on several emerging areas shaping the future of agriculture, including:

  • Technology-driven agricultural transformation
  • Precision farming and digital agriculture
  • Innovations in fisheries and poultry
  • Climate-resilient agrochemicals
  • Agrivoltaics and renewable energy in farming
  • Solar-powered cold chain infrastructure
  • Solar dryers to reduce post-harvest losses

Experts also discussed strategies for green growth in agriculture, emphasising sustainable productivity, climate resilience and rural entrepreneurship.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Gyanendra Sharan.
