NEW DELHI, 7 June 2025: Nano urea, developed using cutting-edge nanotechnology, has transformed India’s agriculture sector by drastically reducing the reliance on harmful chemical fertilisers, said Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

In a recent social media video shared by Modi Story on platform X, Minister Mandaviya recounted how a young scientist’s simple suggestion to Prime Minister Narendra Modi sparked the creation of the world’s first nano urea manufacturing plant in India. This innovation was made possible in partnership with the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO).

Launched in June 2021, IFFCO’s Nano Liquid Urea fertiliser marked a significant breakthrough, followed by the introduction of Nano-DAP fertilisers in April 2023. The technology has since gained recognition beyond Indian borders.

Mandaviya praised Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, highlighting his ability to turn ideas into practical, impactful solutions. “A 100 ml bottle of Nano Urea replaces a full sack of conventional urea, cutting transportation costs, protecting soil health, and benefiting farmers,” he noted.

Nano urea enhances nutrient absorption efficiency, reduces nitrate leaching, promotes soil vitality, lowers water usage, and leaves a smaller carbon footprint compared to traditional chemical fertilisers. India now has the capacity to produce 2-3 lakh bottles of nano urea, signalling a new era of sustainable agriculture.
