JUNAGADH, 21 July 2025: Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visited Gujarat’s Junagadh district on 19 July 2025, where he met with groundnut farmers in Manekvada village. Chouhan actively participated in field work, joining farmers in the weeding and hoeing of groundnut crops to better understand their daily challenges and farming practices.
During his discussions, Chouhan focused on improved groundnut varieties—notably Gujarat’s prominent ‘Girnar-4’—as well as seed quality, fertilisers, and advanced production techniques. He listened to farmers' concerns regarding climatic challenges, market prices, and irrigation issues. The minister also inspected modern agricultural equipment, including drones, seeking direct feedback about their utility from the farming community.

Chouhan praised farmers for their hard work and emphasized the government’s commitment to backing them at every stage. “Our food providers play an invaluable role in ensuring the country’s food security. The government stands with farmers at every level and is fully committed to addressing their concerns,” he stated.
His visit reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to blend traditional agricultural practices with innovation, and to directly engage with farmers on the ground for shaping future policies.
