NEW DELHI, 2 April 2026: The Centre will roll out a series of region-wise agriculture conferences during April–May 2026, aimed at strengthening Centre–State coordination and accelerating reforms in the farm sector.
Announcing the initiative, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the conferences will serve as a platform for structured dialogue, policy review, and future planning involving States, scientists, farmer groups, and industry stakeholders.
The first zonal conference for the western region will be held in Jaipur on April 7, with participation from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is expected to attend along with State Agriculture Ministers and senior officials.
Subsequent conferences are scheduled in Lucknow (April 17) for northern States and Bhubaneswar (April 24) for eastern States, followed by meetings in Hyderabad and Guwahati covering southern and north-eastern regions.
Chouhan said the initiative aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure effective implementation of agricultural schemes tailored to regional needs.
Focus on key missions
The conferences will review progress and challenges across major government programmes, including:
Aatmanirbhar Dalhan Mission
National Edible Oil Mission
Natural Farming Mission
Digital Agriculture Mission
They will also facilitate sharing of best practices in irrigation, fertiliser distribution, horticulture, and agri value chains.
Broad-based participation
Participants will include scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendras, representatives from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, agri-startups, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and progressive farmers.
Interactive sessions are planned to gather grassroots feedback, ensuring policies are aligned with field realities and market dynamics.

The Centre expects the initiative to:

Chouhan said continuous engagement with stakeholders at the field level is essential to building a resilient and future-ready agricultural ecosystem.
