BHUBANESWAR, 28 April 2025: In a strong push to boost Odisha’s presence in the global agricultural market, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo urged exporters to explore the state's rich array of agricultural and geographical indication (GI) products for international promotion.
Speaking at a workshop-cum-capacity building programme at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Singh Deo lauded the collaboration between the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the state government in driving agri-exports. He stressed the potential of organic farming and the state’s initiatives to enhance the global competitiveness of its farm produce.
APEDA chairman Abhishek Dev outlined strategies for tapping into global demand, placing special focus on the growing market for organic products. He pointed to Odisha’s immense diversity and production volume as critical advantages for scaling exports.
The event showcased over 10 stalls featuring a vibrant collection of products from farmer producer organisations (FPOs), women agripreneurs, government bodies, and local exporters. Highlighted items included Koraput Kalajeera rice, Nayagarh Kanteimundi brinjal, Ganjam kewda flower products, Koraput coffee, Kandhamal haldi powder, Kendrapada Rasabali, Salipur Rasgulla, Khajuri gur, Dhenkanal Magaji ladoo, and Mayurbhanj Kai chutney — all reflecting Odisha’s rich agricultural heritage.
Over 400 stakeholders, including progressive farmers, government officials, and academic experts from OUAT, participated in the programme, signaling a united effort to position Odisha as a major player in the global agri-products export market.
