LUCKNOW, 3 June 2025: In a bid to drive innovation and sustainability in fisheries, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Nishad, Minister of Fisheries, Government of Uttar Pradesh, visited the ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBFGR) in Lucknow.
The visit reinforced the state government’s resolve to leverage cutting-edge research and technology to advance fisheries development across Uttar Pradesh.
During his interaction with scientists and officials, Dr. Nishad lauded ICAR-NBFGR’s ongoing work in conserving India’s fish genetic resources. He singled out milt cryopreservation technology as a “game-changer” that could enhance breeding efficiency and ensure year-round seed availability for fish farmers. The Minister called for the commercialization of the technology and its wide-scale adoption among aquaculture stakeholders.
