THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 18 August 2025: The Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) of Milma will launch bottled cow milk on August 19, strengthening its dairy portfolio.
Animal Husbandry Minister J. Chinchurani will unveil the product at a function at Hotel Dimora here, with Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal presiding. The best-performing dealers will also be honoured at the event.
TRCMPU Chairperson Mani Vishwanadh said Milma Cow Milk, priced at INR 70 for a one-litre bottle, will initially be available in Thiruvananthapuram before reaching Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha. “This is high-quality milk sourced from select Milma units under TRCMPU,” she said.
As part of Onam benefits, an additional incentive of INR 6 per litre has been announced for July’s procurement, with INR 4 going directly to farmers, INR 1 to cooperative societies, and INR 1 credited as the farmer’s additional share. A total of INR 4.8 crore has been set aside for this scheme, funded from profits earned this fiscal.
The union also approved medical aid up to INR 25,000 for farmers and introduced 30 welfare projects covering education, health, pensions, and financial support. Last year, TRCMPU posted a record profit of INR 39 crore, of which 85% was disbursed as incentives.
The new product, containing 3.2?t and 8.5% SNF, comes in a high-grade plastic bottle with a three-day shelf life under refrigeration. Distribution will cover Milma outlets, supermarkets like Lulu and Reliance, and online platforms.
Promotional offers include a lucky draw for customers on August 20–21, with ten winners receiving prizes worth INR 15,000 each, and a free 500 ml pack of homogenised toned milk for those buying two bottles at supermarkets on August 20.
Meanwhile, TRCMPU has secured an order from the Travancore Devaswom Board to supply 170 tonnes of ghee for Sabarimala and allied temples during the pilgrimage season.
