MUMBAI, 12 June 2025: In a landmark move for India’s agri-food ecosystem, SaaS-based food commerce leader FarMart has partnered with Aerem, a full-stack rooftop solar provider for MSMEs, to address one of the most pressing issues in the sector: access to reliable and affordable energy.

This strategic collaboration will integrate Aerem’s clean energy solutions across FarMart’s vast network—encompassing over 3.8 million farmers, 1,500+ food processors, and 4,000+ food businesses in India, the Middle East, and Africa. By enabling solar adoption at scale, the partnership aims to reduce energy costs, improve operational uptime, and support the sustainable scaling of food processing units.

“The food economy is evolving, and reliable energy is now foundational infrastructure,” Alekh Sanghera, Co-founder & CEO of FarMart said. “Our partnership with Aerem will accelerate the transition to clean energy and help build a future-ready agri-supply chain.”

Aerem’s solar ecosystem brings together a digital platform, an RBI-licensed NBFC, and a marketplace of verified OEMs and EPCs—making solar installation easy, financed, and scalable for processors who are often locked out of traditional energy infrastructure.

“By joining forces with FarMart, we are delivering solar where it’s most needed—at the heart of food processing,” said Anand Jain, Founder & CEO, Aerem. “We’re helping MSMEs reduce power costs, lower emissions, and build resilience.”

Industry experts say the partnership could be a game-changer. Anjali Bansal, Founding Partner of Avaana Capital, which backs both companies, praised the move: “FarMart and Aerem are powering the agri value chain with clean energy—driving productivity, resilience, and systems-level change. This is the kind of collaboration that will define a Viksit Bharat.”

As the food economy continues to decentralize and digitize, clean energy integration could unlock significant value, contributing to GDP growth, emission reductions, and a more resilient agribusiness ecosystem.
