VELAGAPUDI, 3 July 2025: In a move to modernize the state’s agricultural sector, the Andhra Pradesh agriculture department on Wednesday rolled out the Agriculture Input Licence Engine (AGILE), a digital platform aimed at streamlining and standardizing the licensing of agricultural inputs.
The AGILE platform was formally launched at the Secretariat by Budithi Rajasekhar, ex-officio special chief secretary. Rajasekhar urged all stakeholders involved in licensing for seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to mandatorily adopt and effectively use the new system.
Describing AGILE as a “developed, updated, and centralized digital input management system,” he emphasized that its rollout was vital to building a transparent, efficient, and user-friendly agricultural regulatory ecosystem.
S. Dilli Rao, director of agriculture, highlighted the app’s wide-ranging features. “It is a new generation comprehensive licensing management system,” he said. “Paperless, standardized, and built for real-time oversight.”
The AGILE platform incorporates several advanced digital features:
- A real-time monitoring dashboard for policymakers and administrators
- Advanced reporting and analytics for scheme reviews and planning
- Integrated supply chain monitoring across manufacturers, dealers, and retailers
- E-Governance modules with Aadhaar-based authentication, SMS/email notifications, and Digilocker integration
- Online payment gateways and GIS mapping of the dealer network
- User-friendly online portals enabling easy license application and tracking for farmers, dealers, and other stakeholders
Several senior officials and agricultural leaders were present at the event, including K. Srinivasulu, director of horticulture; T. Vijayakumar (retired), executive vice-chairman of Rythu Sadhikara Samstha; Dr. K. Gopal, vice-chancellor of Horticulture University; and Dr. Sarada Jayalakshmi, vice-chancellor of ANGRAU Ranga University.
Agriculture joint directors V.D.V. Krupadas, Vijayabharati, and Balasubrahmanyam, along with DAO Vijayakumari and ADA Prem Shekhar, coordinated the programme.
During the inaugural event, Rajasekhar handed over the first digital fertilizer manufacturing license issued through AGILE to Adhya Agro Chemicals of Nadendla mandal, Palnadu district — a women-led dealership serving several districts.
Officials said the AGILE platform would play a critical role in improving transparency, strengthening supply chain monitoring, and empowering farmers across Andhra Pradesh.
