Parliament passes farm bills, full protection to farmers, procurement at MSP will continue, says Narendra Singh Tomar

Parliament today passed two bills aimed at transforming agriculture in the country and raising farmers’ incomes. The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 which were passed by Lok Sabha on 17 September 2020, were passed by the Rajya Sabha also today.

Over 1.67 crore farmers registered on e-NAM platform

As on 31 August 2020, a total of 1.67 crore farmers, 1.44 lakh traders and 83,958 commission agents and 1722 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) have been registered on e-NAM platform. A total trade value of INR 1,04,313 crore has been recorded on e-NAM platform, agriculture minister, Narendra Singh Tomar informed Rajya Sabha recently.
