As per preliminary reports received from the States, the total area sown under Rabi crops as on January 13, 2017 stands at 61.62 million hectares, as compared to 58.19 million hectare this time in 2016.
Wheat has been sown/transplanted in 30.96 million hectares, rice in 1.49 million hectares, pulses in 15.53 million hectares, coarse cereals in 5.48 million hectares and area sown under oilseeds is 8.14 million hectares.
