Odisha State has about 6.5 million hectares of cultivable area out of the total geographical area of 15.6 million ha, accounting for 41.16%. Rice is the main crop of the State covering 75-80% of the total cultivated area with 3.8 million ha (Source: Odisha Agriculture Statistics 2013-14 ).
