AGARTALA, 10 July 2025: Tripura has taken significant strides in organic agriculture, developing over 25,000 hectares of certified organic land and exporting more than 1,300 metric tonnes of organic produce over the past three years. The announcement was made by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath during the first Organic Buyer-Seller Conference held at Hotel Polo Towers in Agartala on Wednesday.
Calling organic farming a “future-ready solution,” the Minister said, “Tripura is not just adopting organic practices — we are building a complete ecosystem from farm to fork.”
Tripura has promoted the formation of 53 certified organic Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), encouraging cultivation of high-value crops such as GI-tagged Queen Pineapple, Bird’s Eye Chilli, Black and Aromatic Rice, Turmeric, Ginger, and Scented Lemon.
Minister Nath said the state's signature product, Queen Pineapple, is prized globally for its sweetness and low acidity, making it ideal for juice and dessert production. He added that Bird’s Eye Chilli, with high capsaicin content, offers health benefits including improved metabolism and digestion.

According to official data, Tripura exported:
- 666 MT of pineapple

“This Buyer-Seller Meet is not just about trading goods — it’s about building trust and sustainable partnerships,” Minister Nath stated. “Tripura may be small in size, but our ambitions are large.”
Concluding his remarks, he invited stakeholders to “visit Tripura’s farms and witness firsthand the commitment of our farmers,” urging collaboration to make Organic Tripura a national model.
