NEW DELHI, 29 August 2025: The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare will showcase organic produce and value-added products from the North-East at the 17th edition of BioFach India 2025, to be held from August 30 to September 1 at the India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida.
More than 27 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) from the region, supported under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER), will participate in the three-day trade fair.
The event will bring together organic producers, buyers, businesses, policymakers, and global stakeholders, offering FPOs an opportunity to engage directly with traders and experts, while showcasing the diversity of North-East organic produce.
FPOs will display a wide range of products including cardamom, kiwi, pineapple, ginger, whole spices, turmeric, king chilli, rice, millets, and fresh as well as processed fruits, along with several Geographical Indication (GI) products.
Launched in 2015–16, MOVCDNER is a flagship scheme designed to promote organic farming in the North-East by supporting farmers across the value chain—from production and certification to processing and marketing. The scheme prioritises small and marginal farmers, forming organic clusters and building sustainable market linkages.
By enabling access to fair markets, the initiative seeks to enhance farmer incomes and strengthen resilience in the region’s agricultural sector. Officials said that participation in BioFach India 2025 will not only expand the market reach of North-East organic products but also boost India’s vision of sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.
The Ministry’s participation highlights India’s commitment to developing its organic ecosystem and positioning the North-East as a key contributor to the country’s organic growth story.
