VST to launch electric power tiller, weeder by FY26

May 31, 2025

VST Tillers & Tractors will debut fully electric farming equipment in FY26, targeting domestic and global markets with sustainable agri-tech solutions.

BENGALURU, 31 May 2025: VST Tillers & Tractors, one of India’s leading agricultural machinery manufacturers, is set to enter the electric farming equipment market in FY26 with the launch of its first fully electric power tiller and power weeder.

This strategic move aligns with VST’s commitment to clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and smart farming solutions for small and marginal farmers.

The electric product rollout is the result of a three-year collaboration with US-based Monarch Tractor, a frontrunner in autonomous electric farming technology. VST has previously supplied drivetrain components to Monarch, and the partnership has shaped VST’s readiness for both domestic and international markets, according to CEO Antony Cherukara.

“These launches reflect our farmer-first approach and readiness to support the global shift towards carbon-neutral farming practices,” said Cherukara.

Tech-Driven, Farmer-Centric Design

The electric tiller and weeder are designed for practical farm use. VST is introducing fast-charging capabilities, allowing 70–80?ttery recharge in just 30–40 minutes. While swappable batteries will be available as an option, they won’t be essential for operation — addressing usability challenges faced by small farmers in rural areas.

Global Expansion Plans

While India remains the company’s key market, VST aims to export the electric range to Europe and other regions, riding the wave of global demand for electric farm machinery.

Backed by a strong performance in FY25 — including the sale of 37,297 power tillers and 7,458 weeders — VST is well-positioned to scale its electric agri-tech offerings in the coming years.

Competitive Edge

VST plans to differentiate itself from early electric entrants like the Murugappa Group by focusing on real-world runtime, durability, and farmer-first features. The launch will also support India’s broader goals around climate-smart agriculture and carbon reduction in rural sectors.

This move marks a pivotal milestone in VST’s electrification roadmap, setting the stage for future innovation in smart, connected, and autonomous farming tools.
