THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 29 August 2026: The Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), popularly known by its brand name Milma, has reported strong growth in the sales of milk and dairy products during the 2026 Onam season, driven by increased consumer demand ahead of the festival.
Between August 20 and 25, covering the period leading up to Uthradam, Milma sold 1,45,76,846.63 litres of milk, registering a 5.61% increase compared with the corresponding period last year.
Curd sales also recorded significant growth. Milma sold 18,09,331.50 kg of curd during the period, representing a 9.68% increase year-on-year.
Thiruvananthapuram union sees higher milk demand
Milma's Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers' Union (TRCMPU) recorded a 5.86% increase in milk sales during the five days leading up to Uthradam compared with the same period last year.
Curd sales at TRCMPU increased by 7.94% year-on-year.
The regional union also sold 297.85 tonnes of ghee between August 1 and 25, highlighting increased demand for dairy products during the festive season.
Ernakulam records 16.44% rise in curd sales
The Ernakulam Regional Co-operative Milk Producers' Union (ERCMPU) recorded a 4.62% increase in milk sales during the period compared with last year.
Curd sales registered an even stronger growth of 16.44%.
ERCMPU sold 172.58 tonnes of ghee between August 1 and 25 this year.
Malabar union reports strong dairy demand
The Malabar Regional Co-operative Milk Producers' Union (MRCMPU) reported a 6.03% year-on-year increase in milk sales during the Onam period.
Curd sales increased by 8.7% compared with the corresponding period last year.
MRCMPU sold 358.35 tonnes of ghee between August 1 and 25.
Milma prepares supply chain for Onam rush
Milma attributed the increase in sales to extensive preparations and supply-chain management undertaken ahead of the festive season.
The federation said it carried out advance planning to ensure adequate supplies of milk, curd and other dairy products during the Onam festivities. It explored available procurement channels and logistics strategies to manage the seasonal increase in demand.
The federation's seasonal preparations are aimed at maintaining uninterrupted availability of dairy products while meeting increased consumer demand across Kerala.
Milma thanks consumers and dairy farmers
KCMMF Chairman K.S. Mani thanked consumers for their continued support and loyalty to Milma products, saying consumer confidence had contributed significantly to the strong sales performance during the Onam season.
He also acknowledged the contribution of the federation's board of directors, three regional milk unions, management teams, dairy farmers, Milma employees, distribution vehicle personnel and distributors.
Mani also extended Milma's Onam greetings to Keralites in India and around the world.
The latest sales figures reinforce Milma's position as a leading dairy brand in Kerala and highlight the strong seasonal demand for milk, curd and ghee during the state's biggest festival.
