India has recorded an increase in rabi crops sowing as on January 20, 2017 to 62.83 million tonnes, as compared to 59.23 million tonnes sowed till the same period last year.

As on Jaunary 20, 2017, wheat has been sown/transplanted in 31.31 million hectares, rice in 1.93 million hectares, pulses in 15.76 million hectares, coarse cereals in 5.62 million hectares and area sown under oilseeds is 8.19 million hectares.
