THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 4 June 2026: The Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU), a regional unit of Milma, has clarified that there was no lapse in the supply of ghee to the Sabarimala Sree Dharma Sastha Temple during the 2025 Mandala Pooja season.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, TRCMPU said Milma’s Pathanamthitta Dairy strictly adhered to all contractual obligations, quality standards and delivery schedules while supplying the required quantity of ghee to the temple.
According to the cooperative, the dairy had received confirmation from the temple authorities regarding successful delivery and acceptance of the ghee consignment, following which all accounts related to the contract were duly settled.
TRCMPU described the agreement with the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) for supplying ghee to the renowned pilgrimage centre as a significant achievement for the dairy cooperative network and the thousands of dairy farmers associated with it.
The cooperative expressed concern over what it termed as attempts by certain groups to spread misinformation regarding the supply process. It said such allegations could discourage farmer-owned institutions from pursuing similar opportunities in the future.
"Milma considers the Sabarimala ghee supply contract a matter of pride for the cooperative movement and the dairy farmers it represents," the statement noted.
TRCMPU urged the public to support initiatives that contribute to the welfare of farmers and strengthen cooperative institutions that work for rural livelihoods and economic development.
Strong Focus on Farmer Welfare
Highlighting its contribution to the dairy sector, TRCMPU said it continues to operate as a farmer-centric cooperative model that procures milk directly from dairy farmers and markets processed milk and value-added dairy products.
The union revealed that it transferred nearly ₹19 crore to farmers as price incentives during the last financial year. In addition, around ₹25 crore was spent on various farmer welfare schemes.
For the current financial year, TRCMPU has planned welfare and development initiatives worth approximately ₹30 crore aimed at improving farmer incomes, strengthening dairy infrastructure and supporting sustainable milk production.
The cooperative reiterated its commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of dairy farmers while maintaining the highest standards of product quality and consumer trust.
