Don’t give in to adverse propaganda against Milma: Minister Smt Bindhu Krishna
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 24 August 2026: Diversifying its product range to meet consumer demand, Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) on Saturday launched four new value-added products.
Smt Bindhu Krishna, Minister for Labour, Women and Child Development, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, launched the new set of products along with cine artist Meenakshi Anoop at a gala event at Lulu Mall in Thiruvananthapuram.
Dairy farmers are the backbone of Kerala’s economy and Milma has over the decades become a household name in the state as a major dairy cooperative network of the country, the Minister said, urging consumers not to give in to the adverse propaganda spread by vested interests targeting Milma.
“Some recent negative reports about Milma were unfounded. I personally went and verified the matter and found that all these rumours about Milma have no basis. All Milma products are manufactured under stringent quality-control processes, with multiple tests conducted to ensure that consumers get authentic and healthy products,” the Minister said.
From being primarily a producer of milk and curd, Milma has come a long way by winning the trust of Malayalis with a wide range of value-added products developed through scientific research and tailored to changing consumer tastes.
She added that Milma’s objective is to continue as one of the country’s leading dairy sector brands providing high-quality milk and value-added dairy products.
The Minister also sought the continued support of all stakeholders in Milma’s onward journey and strengthening the state’s dairy sector.
The Minister recalled that on June 1, Chief Minister Shri V.D. Satheesan set a target for Kerala’s dairy development sector, aimed at taking the state to self-sufficiency in milk production by reaching an output of one crore litres of milk.
Smt. Sinila Unnikrishnan, Administrator, TRCMPU; Shri Rararaj R. KAS, Managing Director; Shri C.N. Valsalan Pillai, Chairman, Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (ERCMPU); and Smt. Shalini Gopinath, Director, Dairy Development Department, were present at the event.
The Minister unveiled on the occasion ‘Ona Kazhcha’ product kit by handing it over to Shri C.N. Valsalan Pillai.
New Products
The first product unveiled on Saturday was Milma Paneer Pops, made with pure Milma paneer combined with a special blend of spices and crispy bread crumbs. It will be available in two flavours: Peri-Peri and Chettinad. Available in frozen form, this ready-to-cook product can be easily fried in oil or prepared in an air fryer within minutes and served hot. Ideal as a snack with evening tea or for parties, Milma Paneer Pops is the union’s latest offering aimed at combining taste and nutrition.
Two new yogurt products: Milma Sweetened Yogurt and Milma Blueberry-Flavoured Yogurt, were also introduced. Made from pure milk and scientifically set using beneficial yogurt cultures (probiotics), these products are suitable for both children and adults.
Yogurt is rich in probiotics, which can support digestion and gut health. It also provides the body with high-quality protein and calcium. Milma Sweetened Yogurt offers a naturally appealing sweet taste, while the Blueberry Flavoured Yogurt caters to consumers looking for a refreshing fruit flavour.
The new products aim to bring together health and taste as part of consumers’ everyday diets.
